Antique & Vintage Postcards

Written in a hurried hand from Portland on June 5, 1914, this hand-colored card carries an intimate domestic dispatch: Lucy reports she "got home 10 o'clock last night OK," is staying with Ellin until the house is "quite aired out," and closes with an earnest plea — "let me hear from you with lord from Lucy" — addressed to Mrs. Geo. M. Bame in Hutto, Williamson County, Texas. The card itself depicts a New York state subject (Westfield area, based on series context), its cheerful color standing in contrast to Lucy's clearly unsettled living situation. A Texas-postmarked piece with cross-country social history baked right in.
