Postcard 1910s Curtis Hotel Lenox MA Berkshires Phostint Detroit Publishing

Lenox, Massachusetts, USA1910Pre-linenExcellent

The grand Curtis Hotel rises from manicured lawns in this richly tinted Phostint card, its five-story red-brick Georgian Revival facade commanding the heart of Lenox, Massachusetts — once called "the inland Newport" for the Gilded Age estates that surrounded it. Produced by the legendary Detroit Publishing Company using their proprietary Phostint color lithography process, this card captures the hotel at its peak prestige, when it served as social headquarters for Berkshire County's summer aristocracy and the cultural elite attending nearby Tanglewood concerts. The back is entirely unused and blank, with only a penciled inventory notation suggesting it remained in a dealer's stock for decades, pristine and unmailed.
