Postcard 1908 Lenox MA Episcopal Church Parish House Tuck UDB 1c Franklin Used

Lenox, Massachusetts, USA1908Pre-linenGood

Ivy creeps up the warm Romanesque stonework of Lenox's Episcopal Church and Parish House in the Berkshires, while a horse-drawn cart idles in the foreground — a quintessential snapshot of Gilded Age New England small-town life captured in glorious early color lithography. Published by the celebrated Raphael Tuck & Sons for their "Lenox, Mass." series, this undivided-back card was postmarked at Lenox on June 30, 1908, and bears a crisp 1c Benjamin Franklin green stamp. A sender named only by initials — F.H. — scrawled a brief note on the image side mentioning a trip on the trolley the previous afternoon, then addressed the card to Horace at Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, the summer resort community on Martha's Vineyard — two of New England's finest destinations exchanging greetings in a single card.
