Postcard c1905 Camden Harbor Maine Souvenir Leporello Pull-Out UDB Antique

Camden, Maine, USA1905Pre-linenGood

A jewel-toned chromolithograph of Camden Harbor, Maine — sailboats dotting the still water, wooded hillsides rolling to the shore, and the quiet charm of a New England coastal village at the turn of the twentieth century — serves as the cover for this delightful leporello pull-out souvenir postcard, made in Saxony and labeled "Souvenir of Camden, Me." Inside, a long accordion-fold strip unfolds to reveal additional black-and-white photographic views of Camden, including a sweeping panorama labeled "Creo shore, Camden, Me. where we live" — a personal inscription that transforms this charming novelty into a piece of lived local history. Florence, writing from 38 Main Street, Camden, sent this to a Mr. Leonard at 14 Summer Street, Somerville, Massachusetts, noting with warmth: "I think you will like this as it takes so many views as I am sending. I am sending a letter at the same time." The undivided back and "Made in Saxony" imprint date this squarely to the pre-1907 golden age of American postcard collecting.
