Postcard 1910 Novelty Dog Puppy "About All In" F.A. Moss Denver Colorado

Plumas County, California, USA (destination); Denver, Colorado (publisher)1910Pre-linenGood

With soulful eyes and a licked-clean spoon clutched in its paws, this utterly disarming 1909-copyright puppy card — captioned "About All In!" — depicts a tired black-and-white spaniel-type dog sprawled flat after finishing its meal, the humor landing with gentle charm that was irresistible to Edwardian-era senders. Published in 1909 by F. A. Moss of Denver, Colorado (card no. 6425), the monochrome illustration carries a confident artistic monogram in the lower left and bears a postmark cancel dated 1910 with a "REC'D" notation. On the reverse, the card was sent to a Mrs. Mainer at Spanish Ranch in Plumas County, California — a remote ranching community in the Sierra Nevada foothills — with a remarkably candid message from the sender: she had the grippe and rheumatism, was "better but not satisfied to be idle," mentions a cousin named Deedie attempting a divorce, notes sickness among family, and signs off with love. A tiny human story tucked into a comic puppy card.
