Hardwick VT c1908 Pull-Out Souvenir Postcard Embossed H.Hyman Caspian Lake

Hardwick, Vermont, USA1908Pre-linenGood

The same charming H. Hyman-designed embossed cover — a miniature crimson album titled Souvenir Greetings nestled among blue pansies and a lakeside pine vignette — here conceals a leporello strip of views from Hardwick, Vermont: the Woodbury Granite Works (a reminder that this corner of the Northeast Kingdom was once the granite capital of Vermont), a sweeping panoramic view across the village rooftops, the white-steepled church on the Hardwick village green, the tranquil waters of Caspian Lake with a sailboat at anchor, and Main Street Hardwick with its commercial brick storefronts. The reverse is unused and blank — dealer inventory pencil "No. 700" — and the card was never mailed, preserving it in clean, bright condition. Hardwick's granite quarrying industry, centred in nearby Woodbury, was at its peak in the early 1900s, making this strip a rare visual record of a now-vanished industrial landscape alongside the pastoral Vermont scenery that drew summer visitors.
