Antique & Vintage Postcards

Painted the color of a clear New England sky, the rambling Cape Cod–style building housing Blue Cape Antiques sits at a gentle curve on Route 119 in Littleton, Massachusetts — a roadside treasure chest just one mile west of Interstate 495, photographed here in lush summer green. The wide facade with its attached garage, neatly trimmed shrubs, and welcoming canopy speaks to the golden age of American antique shops, when collectors would cruise the back roads hunting furniture, rugs, and curiosities. Operated by Norm Caron and stocked with antique furniture, Oriental rugs, music boxes, toys, militaria, bronzes, and china, this was a serious shop dressed in a charming exterior. This unused promotional postcard — printed by Dynacolor Graphics of Miami and photographed by J. Hendry — was produced for the shop to hand out to browsers and mail to regulars, a common marketing tool for independent dealers through the 1970s–80s.
