Postcard 1950s Colonial Country Club Lynnfield MA Chrome Route 128

Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA1955ChromeExcellent

Tucked along Route 128 in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, the Colonial Country Club's cheerful red-shingled clubhouse basks in warm afternoon light in this mid-century chrome postcard — two flagpoles standing sentinel over a building that hosted wedding receptions, private parties, and banquets under the direction of George W. Page. This advertising card, never mailed, evokes the aspirational suburban leisure culture of postwar New England, when newly prosperous families flocked to country clubs that offered golf, dining, and cocktail lounges as markers of arrival. The Dexter Press chrome process gives the image its characteristic saturated color and glossy finish, characteristic of 1950s travel and hospitality promotional cards. Published by Henry Fullerton of Westfield, N.J., it captures a now-vanished piece of Massachusetts hospitality history.
