Antique & Vintage Postcards

A crackling fieldstone fireplace throws warm light across a red-clothed dining table while a bold ceramic rooster presides overhead and a silver tinsel Christmas tree glimmers in the corner — this chrome-era advertising card for the Red Rooster Restaurant captures the cozy charm that made Route 2A roadside dining a beloved New England institution through the 1960s–70s. Located in Orange, Massachusetts in Franklin County, the Red Rooster offered home baking and cooking, private party bookings, and that particular brand of hearth-and-home hospitality now largely vanished from the American roadside. The card was produced by Rutherford Marketing Associates of Greenfield, Massachusetts, a regional publisher that served many Pioneer Valley businesses.
