Postcard c1910 Tia Juana Mexico Street View Tarjetas Postales Pull-Out A.Savin

Tijuana (Tia Juana), Baja California, Mexico1910Pre-linenGood

Dusty, wide-open, and utterly unhurried, this sepia-tinted street scene captures Tijuana (then spelled "Tia Juana") in its frontier infancy — a single gas lamp post stands sentinel on an unpaved plaza, the Mexican tricolor flies over the modest false-front building of merchant A. Savin, and a handful of figures in period dress go about their day against a backdrop of desert hills. Hidden inside this "Tarjetas Postales" novelty cover is a concertina strip of tiny interior views: the Custom House of Tia Juana, the Old Mission Chapel, and other early border-town landmarks now long since transformed or demolished. This is Tijuana before Prohibition tourism, before the casinos, before the jai alai — a remarkable visual record of the town barely a generation past its founding, published with a Spanish-language back and numbered No. 485. Never mailed, this pristine unposted rarity offers a genuinely scarce window into Baja California border history.
