Antique & Vintage Postcards

Water erupts and sequined performers twist mid-air as the Mercury Outboard Water Ski Show rockets past the Lone Star Brewing Company's lakeside Hall of Texas History pavilion — an only-at-a-World's-Fair spectacle captured in vivid chrome color for HemisFair '68, San Antonio's grand international exposition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the city's founding. The domed arena gleams behind a fountain plume while the Tower of the Americas rises in the right background, and a packed grandstand of fairgoers watches the aquatic acrobatics unfold. HemisFair '68, held April 6 – October 6, 1968, drew over six million visitors to San Antonio and left a permanent footprint on the city's landscape; the fairgrounds site today anchors Hemisfair Park. The Lone Star Brewing Company pavilion, themed around Texas history dioramas, was one of the most popular corporate exhibits — and this unused chrome card (HF224) is one of the more dynamic images from the official Plastichrome series.
