Postcard 1963 Chrome Langford Hotel Pool Winter Park Florida Muriel Note

Winter Park, Florida, USA1963ChromeGood

Sun-soaked and stylish, the pool terrace of the Langford Hotel in Winter Park, Florida pulses with early 1960s glamour — women in vivid orange and yellow shift dresses posing poolside under bold striped umbrellas, a diver poised on the high board, and the hotel's sleek mid-century modern wing gleaming in the background. Opened in 1956, the Langford quickly became Central Florida's social hub, drawing celebrities, politicians, and Rollins College visitors to its Olympic pool, Town House Supper Club, and famous tropical gardens. The postmark reads Winter Park, November 3 — and Muriel's breezy message to Katherine in Springfield, Massachusetts crackles with fond mid-century wit: "How's the ice-maker? JB is knee deep in studying for mid terms, but I'll manage dinner with him every nite and he has the car to show off. This place is easy to take." A 5¢ George Washington stamp in gray-blue anchors the upper right corner, consistent with the mid-1960s domestic rate.
