Sepia-toned color-washed postcard of the Place de la République in the village of Auriac, Haute-Garonne, in southwestern France. The medieval square is animated with a cluster of villagers gathered around horse-drawn carts and a covered well or fountain structure; a bare-branched tree dominates the right foreground. Behind the low stone and render buildings of the square rises the tower of the village church, a solid Romanesque or medieval structure. The card has the warm golden-brown tones characteristic of Labouche Frères production.
