Caen Ancien Hotel de Valois Le Porche Doorway Normandy France Postcard 1912
Caen, Calvados, Normandy, France1912Divided BackGood
Atmospheric photographic postcard of the portal of the Ancien Hôtel de Valois (also known as the Hôtel d'Escoville) in Caen, Normandy — a richly decorated Renaissance doorway framed by Doric and Ionic pilasters, surmounted by a carved sculptural lunette above the double doors, and set within a vaulted porch with coffered stone ceiling. The ornate carvings of the late 16th-century mansion's entrance are captured in fine detail. A French 10 centime red Sower stamp is affixed to the front of the card.
