Postcard 1962 Paris France Seine River Notre Dame Chrome Air Mail Czech

Paris, France1962ChromeGood

A lush aerial panorama sweeps across the Seine and the Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame's twin towers rising against a pale Parisian sky in this richly saturated 1960s chrome card — but the real treasure here is on the reverse, where Eva writes in Czech to her "Milý Pappa" from Paris, telling him she has been traveling through southern France and will be home within about a week, still in West Germany ("ve Wes. Šalz…"), with a tender closing of thanks and love. The card was sent air mail from the Louvre post office in Paris and addressed to Wm. Ocenosek at 880 N.E. 113th Street, Miami 38, Florida, U.S.A. — a snapshot of Czech diaspora family connection during the Cold War era. Published by Éditions Chantal under the Iris/Mexichromes process, this is a fine example of the high-color chrome printing that defined 1950s–60s European souvenir cards.
