Postcard Cologne Cathedral Germany Chrome Greetings from Koln c1910

Cologne, Germany1910Pre-linenGood

Twin Gothic spires pierce a rosy dawn sky in this vivid chrome-style souvenir card from Cologne — the great Kölner Dom looms over a bustling plaza filled with trams, horse-drawn carriages, and tiny pedestrians dwarfed by one of the tallest cathedrals ever built. Construction began in 1248, stalled for centuries, and was finally completed in 1880 after 632 years — a fact proudly noted in the German text overlay on the front face. The card carries a dealer's pencilled price of £1 in the stamp box on the reverse, suggesting it passed through a British ephemera stall sometime in the mid-20th century; it was never posted, leaving the crisp "Greetings from Cologne" lettering in metallic blue-green perfectly intact. Publisher code HWK 436 anchors it to a well-documented German tourist series produced for the export souvenir trade.
