Antique & Vintage Postcards

Chromolithograph advertising trade card from the Singer Manufacturing Company "Costumes of All Nations" series, copyright 1892, printed by J. Ottmann Lith. Co. The front depicts three young Romanian women in richly embroidered national dress gathered around two Singer sewing machines — one seated at the treadle machine sewing, one standing at center, and one at right leaning on a chair. The embroidered blouses, beaded necklaces, and intricately patterned skirts are rendered in vivid color. Labeled "Roumania." The reverse carries descriptive text about Romania as a kingdom of southern Europe comprising Moldavia, Wallachia, and Dobruja.
