Antique & Vintage Postcards

Chromolithograph advertising trade card from the Singer Manufacturing Company "Costumes of All Nations" series, copyright 1892, printed by J. Ottmann Lith. Co. The front depicts a young Bosnian man in full traditional dress — red fez, embroidered vest in red and gold, striped cummerbund, loose breeches, and leather gaiters — standing beside a Singer treadle sewing machine and holding white fabric. Labeled "Bosnia. (Austria-Hungary.)" The reverse carries descriptive text about Bosnia as a territory formerly a Turkish vilayet, now under Austro-Hungary, noting the Singer Machine has found its way into mountain and valley homes.
