From a small plane banking over the deep-green peninsula, the sprawling resort campus of Lake Bomoseen comes into perfect aerial view — a cluster of blue-roofed hotel buildings and white cottages nestled among mature hardwoods, their lawns rolling to the glittering water's edge where rowboats bob at a small dock, while a gravel parking lot full of early-1960s automobiles anchors the scene in a precise American vacation moment. Lake Bomoseen, Vermont's largest lake entirely within the state and situated just west of Rutland off Route 4, was a beloved summer destination throughout the mid-twentieth century, and this chrome-era color card by photographer John B. Hustler — distributed by Forward's Color Productions and published by Koppel Color Cards — perfectly encapsulates the era's resort postcard aesthetic. The card was never sent, retaining a penciled price notation "EL 1–" on the reverse.
