This card was posted on 10 August 1952 from Ryde's Isle of Wight sorting office, carrying two King George VI 1d blue stamps — among the last of their issue, as the King had died just six months earlier in February 1952 and the new Elizabethan definitives were not yet in circulation. The message, written to Miss McCormick at Northfield, Birmingham, describes "very charming" weather and mentions having "all [been] tired out" — a perfectly British holiday postcard sentiment.
