Chrome advertising card for the Downtown Motel Hotel at West Peachtree and Simpson in Atlanta — a multiview showing the mid-century brick building with its exterior corridor balconies, the dining area, and a guest room fitted with Krohler furniture and a color TV, which the hotel was proud enough of to mention twice on the back. Edith and Fred mailed this to friends in Pittsburgh in December, delivering the classic postcard message in five words: "Having a good time. Wish you were here." The zip code slogan cancellation on the back — "Always Use Your Zip Code" — dates this precisely to the mid-1960s, when the Post Office was still campaigning to get Americans to use the new system. West Peachtree at Simpson puts this squarely in what was then Atlanta's modern commercial core, a few years before the city's dramatic downtown transformation.
