Postcard 1908 County Court House Denver Colorado Real Photo RPPC Unused

Denver, Colorado, USA1908Pre-linenGood

Beaux-Arts grandeur on the high plains — Denver's magnificent Arapahoe County Court House rises against a bare-branched winter sky in this early real-photo-style silver gelatin postcard, its copper-green dome and rusticated stone facade conveying the civic ambition of a city still proving itself to the nation. Built between 1883 and 1909 and demolished in 1933 to make way for the current City and County Building, this courthouse is a demolished landmark of Colorado history, making postcards bearing its image genuinely scarce and collectible. The P.C. Co. of Denver (The Photo-Colortype Company) published this example, catalog no. 402, using their distinctive eagle-and-anchor back design. Horse-drawn vehicles are faintly visible at street level, and bare deciduous trees frame a surrounding park, suggesting a late autumn or early spring shooting date. Unused and unwritten, the card retains exceptional tonal clarity.
