Postcard 1916 Austria Hutschenlied Operette Hanni geht tanzen Edmund Eysler ML5

Vienna, Austria1916Pre-linenGood

Straight from the nostalgic heart of pre-war Vienna, this fold-open Liederkarte No. 5 delivers the infectious "Hutschenlied" (Swing Song) — subtitled Geh'n ma Hutschen! — from Edmund Eysler's charming operette Hanni geht tanzen!, its cover dominated by a bold portrait of a dapper performer named F. Werner in top hat and white tie, rendered in confident black lithography with the Prater-swing spirit practically leaping off the card. Open it up and inside you find the complete vocal score of "Geh'n ma hutsch'n!" — text by Robert Bodanzky, music by Edmund Eysler — marked Allegretto moderato, its Viennese dialect lyrics evoking park benches, stolen kisses, the carousel, and a glass of wine in the open air, a perfect capsule of the lighthearted escapism Viennese audiences craved as the war ground on. Copyright 1916 by W. Karczag, Leipzig, Wien, New York; published by Lyra-Verlag (H. Molitor); the reverse, formatted as a standard postcard, carries a printed advertisement: "Das schönste Wiener Lied ist: 'Die Stadt unserer Sehnsucht' von Rudolf Kronegger."
