Postcard 1970s Shanklin Old Village Isle of Wight Chrome D.Constance Unused

Shanklin, Isle of Wight, England1972ChromeExcellent

Sunlight pours down the charming main street of Shanklin's Old Village on the Isle of Wight, where thatched cottages with ornate bargeboards lean companionably over a narrow road — three women in vivid 1970s summer clothes stroll the pavement past a tearoom draped in flowering rhododendrons, a snapshot of British seaside tourism in its post-war heyday. Photographer John T. Pullen has captured the village at its most picturesque: the famous Crab Inn thatched roof, hanging baskets of colour, and the gentle chaos of holidaymakers in the middle distance give the scene an irresistible period warmth. Published by D. Constance Limited of Littlehampton, Sussex under their "Constance" postcard brand and carrying the "Post Office Preferred" size notation on the reverse, this card dates to the early-to-mid 1970s. Never used, the card retains its full colour vibrancy and deckle-edge border.
