Antique & Vintage Postcards

A finely engraved portrait of a young Franz Schubert floats within an ornate oval cartouche — roses, scrollwork, and the intertwined "HM" monogram of the Emel-Karten series frame him elegantly — on this rare Viennese promotional postcard advertising the first series of ten modern operetta hits. Marked Drucksache! (printed matter) at upper right, this card was designed for mass mailing at reduced postage rates, part of a campaign by publisher H. Molitor of Vienna to promote his Emel-Karten song-card series. The reverse references "Das heiße Herz," a charming operetta chanson by Béla Lassky, and invites the recipient to seek out the first series of ten Moderne Operettenschlager. The engraving quality is exceptional, and the unwritten address panel hints this was a display or promotional copy never sent.
