Postcard c1910 UDB Public Library Marysville California Road Thousand Wonders

Marysville, California, USA1910Pre-linenGood

A Neoclassical granite temple to public knowledge commands a quiet corner of Marysville, California, its tall pilastered windows glowing amber and teal in hand-tinted early-twentieth-century color — this is a Carnegie-era library postcard that doubles as civic pride made paper. The tagline printed in the upper right, "On the Road of a Thousand Wonders," was a Southern Pacific Railroad promotional phrase, placing this card within one of the most iconic travel marketing campaigns of the Progressive Era. Published by Cardinell-Vincent Co. of San Francisco, a major West Coast postcard house, the card is unused and retains clean, bright color. The back format — with domestic postage listed as 1¢ and foreign as 2¢, and the instruction "ONLY THE ADDRESS MAY BE WRITTEN HERE" alongside the correspondence space — dates this to the Undivided Back transitional or early Divided Back era, roughly 1907–1915.
