The sentiment at the bottom reads, "Start the New Year with my good wishes for health wealth and happiness," and it was meant to be touched as much as read. Whitney Made of Worcester, Massachusetts — one of America's most beloved greeting card publishers of the early twentieth century — produced this card on their characteristically textured embossed stock, the reverse showing their distinctive laurel-branch logo and "Made in U.S.A." imprint. The hourglass as a New Year symbol, representing time passed and time to come, was a popular motif in the 1907–1915 greeting card golden age.
