Autumn has painted the Hamilton College campus in shades of russet, gold, and scarlet, framing the elegant white steeple of the College Chapel in a scene so quintessentially New England-collegiate that it could serve as the cover of any mid-century admissions brochure — and likely did, in spirit if not in fact. The Chapel, completed in 1828 and designed by the noted architect Philip Hooker, is described on the reverse as "an outstanding example of an early three-story church in America," its Federal-style cupola presiding serenely over the broad green quad scattered with fallen leaves. A lone pedestrian strolls the path at right, giving the scene an intimate, unhurried scale. Published by Margo Studio of Rome, New York, as part of their Historicolor Viewcard line and printed by Dexter Press (the "K" logo visible at lower left of reverse), this chrome-era card dates to the 1960s and captures Hamilton's campus at the height of its mid-century institutional confidence.
