Antique & Vintage Postcards

The S.S. Panaman carried cargo and horses across the Atlantic for the U.S. Navy in the final weeks of World War I, arriving in France five days before the Armistice — a history captured in miniature by this Jewish Welfare Board troopship postcard, free to mail home by any soldier or sailor still overseas. She sailed on for decades afterward, finally sold to Italy in 1947 and scrapped in 1954, but this card preserves her wartime service at its most consequential moment.
