Antique & Vintage Postcards

Graceful Gothic-Renaissance arches soar above the grand staircase of Dubrovnik's Rector's Palace (Dvor / Rectoren Palais), captured in a richly shadowed photographic view that conveys the weight of five centuries of Ragusan republican governance. The elaborately carved Corinthian capitals — each unique — catch the light, while a baroque bronze bust visible in the right arcade watches over the courtyard; a pencil note on the reverse identifies it as a "Bronze Bust of Mich. Pra[g]atto 1638," a precious collector annotation pinpointing the memorial bust of rector Miho Pracat, the only private citizen ever honored with a monument in the Republic of Ragusa. The card's red-ruled back and catalog number 1194–1909 date it to 1909.
