Postcard 1910 Toronto Union Station Canada Used Alice to Tillie Ohio

Toronto, Canada1910Pre-linenFair-Good

A warm terracotta-and-green color lithograph captures Toronto's original Union Station in its Romanesque Revival glory — the tall clock tower, copper-green rooflines, and sweeping train shed roof still fresh when Alice dashed off her cheerful note to Tillie in Cleveland, Ohio in September 1910: "Having a nice time dont work to hard — Alice." This charming used card, postmarked Toronto ON September 6, 1910, shows the now-demolished 1873 station building (replaced by today's Beaux-Arts Union Station, opened 1927), making it a rare photographic document of a vanished piece of Canadian railway heritage. Addressed care of a Mrs. G.M. Chandler at Euclid Heights, it carries a Canadian 1-cent Edward VII stamp.
