Mailed from Nuremberg to a Herr Eigensteiner in Straubing around 1901, this vivid chromolithograph captures the grand Neues Rathaus (New City Hall) of Nuremberg in all its late-Renaissance revival glory — its ornate stepped gable, red-tiled roof, statue-topped turret, and arched ground-floor arcade lit under a dramatic cloudy sky. A lone silhouetted figure stands in the foreground square, lending scale to the imposing sandstone façade. The card's front bears a handwritten greeting running vertically along the right edge ("Herzlichen Gruß") and a destination address. The back, labelled as a "Drucksache" (printed matter) Postkarte, carries a Nuremberg cancel and a Straubing Theresienplatz arrival cancel dated 2 Aug 1901 — routed as printed matter, which required no stamp at this rate in some configurations, though the Nuremberg dispatch cancel is present.
