Antique & Vintage Postcards

From high atop the Bonn Münster, a sweeping sepia panorama stretches across the rooftops of occupied Rhineland Germany — the Gothic spire of the Evangelische Kirche pierces a hazy summer sky above tree-lined boulevards, factory chimneys visible on the horizon beyond the Rhine bend, a city caught between war's aftermath and uneasy peace. This card was mailed on 4 July 1923 by a French soldier stationed with the Armée du Rhin, Secteur 3, to a violin professor in Privas, Ardèche — the densely written message in French discusses postcards for trading, a colleague named "Coquard" about to go on leave after his prisoner-of-war brother's return, and the hope of a 30-day furlough adding up to 33 days total.
