Antique & Vintage Postcards

The five great Romanesque towers of Bonn's Münster basilica rise in elegant asymmetry against a pale sky in this sepia postcard — one of the Rhine city's most iconic views, captured here during the tense years of French military occupation following the First World War. Mailed on 1 July 1923 via the French Army field post (Trésor et Postes 11, Secteur 3), the densely written French-language message fills every centimeter of the reverse, addressed to the same violin professor in Privas, Ardèche who received PC-04082 just days later — suggesting a sustained correspondence from a soldier stationed on the Rhine.
