Antique & Vintage Postcards

From the wooded summit of the Neroberg, all of Wiesbaden spreads in luminous chromolithographic splendour — church spires, red-roofed villas, and the distant Rhine plain stretching to the horizon — while in the foreground a delicate Neoclassical rotunda with a terracotta dome shelters strolling Edwardian visitors, its arched colonnade a favourite viewpoint above the city's famous spa gardens. This gorgeous colour-printed panorama, published by Carl v.d. Boogaart of Wiesbaden and postmarked March 28, 1910, was sent by a writer identifying themselves affectionately to Ida and Karl in Bayreuth — the legendary Wagnerian city — with news that the sender is feeling very well with the water cure ("Mit dieser Kurstur fühle ich mich sehr gesund") and that the view over Hamburg and surroundings is beautiful. The 5 Pfennig Germania stamp in green (Deutsches Reich) ties a Wiesbaden machine cancel. The Neroberg rotunda (the Opelbad-era belvedere) and the panoramic composition make this a top-tier Wiesbaden view card among collectors, while the personal Kurort correspondence to Bayreuth adds warm human interest.
