Awash in the warm honey tones of hand-tinted Edwardian color printing, this early 20th-century card presents Palermo's magnificent Fontana Pretoria — the so-called "Fountain of Shame" for its rings of nude Renaissance statuary — rising in tiered marble splendor at the center of the Piazza Pretoria, flanked by the ornate façade of the Palazzo delle Aquile and a sun-drenched Sicilian apartment block flying what appears to be an Italian tricolor. The fountain's dozens of white marble figures — mythological gods, nymphs, and river deities — are rendered with surprising fidelity for a halftone-color card of this era, giving collectors a vivid window into Belle Époque Palermo. The card is unused, with a clean divided back carrying only a printer's reference (D 2310.1) and a penciled "IT" and "45" in the corners — likely inventory notations from a dealer or prior collector.
