Antique & Vintage Postcards

Mount Vesuvius broods on the horizon beneath a pale sky as a flotilla of wooden fishing and rowing boats crowds the famous Santa Lucia waterfront — one of Naples' most iconic vistas, here rendered in a beautifully toned halftone photograph that captures the bustle of the harbour restaurant strip, with the bold signage of "Zi Teresa" and the "Ostricaro Ristorante Teresa" visible at the quay's edge. Santa Lucia was not merely a scenic spot but the beating heart of Neapolitan street life, immortalised in the folk song of the same name, and this card distills that character perfectly: vendors, boatmen, grand hotels lining the lungomare, and the ever-present volcano framing it all. Published by the well-regarded Neapolitan house V. Carcavallo, the card is unused and carries the distinctive RAC (Reale Automobile Club / or publisher's emblem) logo on the reverse with catalogue number 8503.
