Antique & Vintage Postcards

A languid Edwardian afternoon on the Boating Lake at Regent's Park, London — two figures glide beneath the ornate ironwork of the New Bridge in a wooden rowboat, white swans drifting alongside, the whole scene drenched in golden-green summer light in this gorgeous Tuck Oilette chromolithograph. Posted from Cleveland, Ohio in February 1907 and addressed to a Mrs. Powell at 2820 Jennings Street in Sioux City, Iowa, this card carries a wistful message from a sender signing as "G" — "Was beginning to think I never would hear from you again. Hope to see you soon. Will often. Lovingly, G." — a small, tender fragment of a friendship bridging the early twentieth century American heartland. The 2-cent Washington stamp (Scott #319) is properly affixed and cancelled.
