Fritz Böhmer of Königsberg mailed this official photograph of paintings hanging at the Grosse Kunstausstellung — the Great Art Exhibition — Dresden 1904 to a friend in Trenton, New Jersey, arriving by ship and rail some eleven days later on October 8th. A quiet record of turn-of-the-century German gallery walls, made personal by the transatlantic friendship that carried it across the ocean.
