Framed within a gilded heart-shaped medallion edged with lustrous pearl-white beads, a fashionable Edwardian lady gazes pensively outward — her auburn hair swept up beneath a wide-brimmed hat crowned with violets, her gloved hands folded at her chin — surrounded by cascading sprays of purple lilac rendered in exquisite chromolithographic detail on this heavily embossed "A Gift of Love" greetings card. The lilac blossoms spill generously across all four corners, their lavender and violet tones vivid against the cream field, while gold lettering in an Art Nouveau shield at top announces the card's romantic purpose. This type of portrait-in-heart card, depicting the idealized Edwardian "Gibson Girl" type, was enormously popular as a valentine or general love token c. 1905–1912, and the combination of embossing, pearl-bead border illusion, and richly detailed florals marks this as a premium-grade example.
