Antique & Vintage Postcards

Draped in bougainvillea and flanked by swaying palms, the Hotel Ambassador sprawls magnificently across its Wilshire Boulevard grounds in this warm linen-toned view — the terra-cotta roofline and striped awnings of the legendary property glow in a pastel California dusk, the same glamorous backdrop that hosted six Academy Awards ceremonies and welcomed guests from Charlie Chaplin to presidents. Published by the M. Kashower Co. of Los Angeles, this card dates to the Ambassador's heyday in the 1920s, years before the hotel's Cocoanut Grove nightclub became the epicenter of Hollywood social life. The reverse is pristine and unused, with a simple "Place Stamp Here" box and the "Made in USA" notice flanking the Kashower monogram — a distinctive Art Nouveau-style MK emblem centered at the top of the address side.
