Antique & Vintage Postcards

In March 1918 — with the Great War still raging — an artist named Hans carefully sketched a large institutional building in Nuremberg "Ansicht gegen Westen" (view toward the west), rendering it in confident blue line-work at a scale of 1:200, then used that very card to write to a friend: "Er ist aus Nürnberg hier angekommen. Hoffentlich findet er bald Arbeit…" — "He has arrived here from Nuremberg. Hopefully he'll find work soon…" This extraordinary hand-drawn postcard, dated Nürnberg März 1918 and carrying the artist's own hand in both illustration and message, is a genuinely singular piece of ephemera: part architectural document, part wartime social history, addressed with heartfelt greetings "auch Höckle!" scrawled below the drawing in the same bold hand.
