RPPC Postcard 1940s Templo San Francisco Guadalajara Mexico Exclusivas Julio

Guadalajara, Mexico1945RPPCFair-Good

Dusk light filters through mature laurel trees to illuminate the dramatically shadowed façade of Guadalajara's Templo de San Francisco in this atmospheric real-photo postcard published by Exclusivas "Julio" of Guadalajara. The church's single surviving baroque bell tower rises against a brooding clouded sky, while pedestrians drift through the adjacent plaza below — a quiet snapshot of daily life in Mexico's second city during the 1940s. The Templo de San Francisco, originally part of a vast Franciscan convent complex founded in the sixteenth century, retains its ornate Churrigueresque portal even as the city modernized around it. Published as No. 1 in the Exclusivas Julio series, this card was likely one of the publisher's flagship views. The back carries a handwritten notation and an apparent "Mexico" rubber stamp in the stamp box, suggesting it may have passed through a dealer or distributor's hands.
