Antique & Vintage Postcards

Guadalajara's magnificent twin-spired cathedral dominates this chrome-era postcard with the golden thrust of its neo-Gothic towers piercing a saturated turquoise sky — a color palette as confident as the city itself. In the foreground, a horse-drawn carriage idles beside the Plaza de la Liberación fountain, its driver and passengers providing a delightful human scale against the cathedral's 65-meter towers. The Sagrario Metropolitano's gilded dome glows warmly at right. This was Guadalajara at its postcard-perfect peak, a city equally proud of its Baroque colonial heritage and its role as Mexico's dynamic second city. The scene evokes Sunday paseos, the smell of marigolds, and the distant clatter of hooves on colonial cobblestones.
