Postcard Osaka Japan Dojima Building Oye-bashi Bridge Pre-Linen c1920s

Osaka, Japan1925Pre-linenExcellent

A vivid hand-colored lithographic view of one of Osaka's most celebrated early-20th-century landmarks, the grand Dojima Building rising boldly above the iron-trussed Oye-bashi Bridge — a streetcar visible mid-span, the city humming with Taisho-era energy. The building's Renaissance Revival facade, multi-story cream-and-yellow elevation, and rooftop antennae speak to Japan's rapid modernization boom of the 1920s; vertical Japanese signage advertising what appears to be a restaurant or hotel cascades down the right face, while billboard art decorates a neighboring structure. The caption appears in both Japanese (グンデルビ島堂るゆ壁に畔橋江大 所名阪大) and English: "Dojima Building near Oye-bashi. (Famous Place in Osaka)," confirming its status as a tourist-trade card produced for international visitors. The reverse bears a "Union Postale Universelle / Carte Postale" header with a trade-mark dove stamp and Japanese vertical publisher text — unused, clean, and bright.
