Antique & Vintage Postcards

Pink daisies tumble around an oval vignette in rich, jewel-toned embossed chromolithography — this 1910 greeting card from HIR of Boston captures the golden age of postcard sentiment at its most charming. The floral wreath of pink and crimson daisy-like blooms with deep green leaves frames a heartfelt verse in red and gilt lettering: "I send this little card to tell / It comes from one who loves you well." The silver-embossed background is patterned with tiny hearts and four-leaf clovers, a detail that rewards close inspection. On the reverse, written in a graceful Victorian hand, a note reads "Please from Mother" dated 1911 — a mother's love preserved in paper and ink for over a century. The card was never mailed through the post office, kept instead as a keepsake. HIR Boston (H.I. Robbins) was a prominent early 20th-century American publisher known for high-quality embossed greeting postcards.
