Antique & Vintage Postcards

A single large pink rose blooms against a burnished gold disc — its lush petals rendered with painterly softness in this exquisite embossed chromolithograph New Year greeting published by Whitney Made of Worcester, Massachusetts. An elegant hourglass in warm ivory tones stands at the center foreground, flanked by slender candlesticks threaded with thorny rose stems, the whole composition a graceful meditation on the passage of time and beauty. The verse reads: "May New Year's choicest blessings find you and far outnumber those behind you" — a sentiment of tender optimism perfectly suited to the Edwardian era's love of sentiment in miniature. The reverse, published by Whitney Made (Worcester, Mass.), is unused and blank — a pristine example never sent. Whitney Made was a celebrated American greeting card and postcard publisher whose embossed cards are eagerly sought by collectors today.
