Antique & Vintage Postcards

A crisp white calendar block bearing a bold red numeral "1" emerges from a lavish harvest garland of autumn oak and maple leaves in amber and crimson, clusters of blue-green grapes, trailing red berries, sprigs of dark pine needles and a solitary pine cone — this richly detailed embossed chromolithograph New Year postcard is a masterwork of seasonal symbolism from the early American golden age of greeting cards. A single blue anemone peeks from the left, adding a note of spring's promise to autumn's abundance. Below, gilded text reads: "A Happy New Year / I greet you on this New Year's Day / And wish you luck while on your way." The reverse is unused and entirely blank save for a standard divided-back postcard format with the notation "Domestic One Cent / Foreign Two Cents" — placing it firmly in the 1907–1915 window. The deep embossing on the back creates a subtle floral texture that mirrors the front's opulence. A superb, clean, unused example with no handling wear.
