Postcard 1934 Linen Hotel Fundicion Zimapan Hidalgo Mexico Mailed RPPC

Zimapán, Hidalgo, Mexico1934LinenGood

A splash of color from the Mexican highlands: this cheerful linen-style illustrated card depicts the Hotel "Fundición" in Zimapán, Hidalgo, its white stucco walls and terracotta rooflines nestled among lush green trees under a billowing cloud-filled sky — a roadside oasis for motorists on the Laredo–Mexico City highway circa 1934. The back advertising text promises comfort at kilometer 206: healthy food, Simmons beds, hot water, a swimming pool, and telephones in every room — luxuries that would have impressed any road-tripper of the era. A traveler named Marj dashed off a breezy note: "Had a grand lunch here after a tiring journey," then posted it to a Mrs. G.H. W— at 612 Monticello Court, San Antonio, Texas — a telling snapshot of early American tourism into Mexico along what would become a legendary Pan-American route.
