Postcard 1960s Chrome Matamoros Tamaulipas Mexico Door Gateway Arch Unused

Matamoros, Mexico1961ChromeExcellent

The graceful twin arches of the "Puerta Mexico" — Mexico's Gateway — rise over the broad boulevard leading into Matamoros, Tamaulipas, the busy border city facing Brownsville, Texas across the Rio Grande. Mid-century automobiles (a white pickup, sedans in Detroit iron vintage) navigate the roundabout beneath the arches, while the customs and immigration facility gleams in the background and the Mexican tricolor snaps in a clear blue sky. The Mexfotocolor chrome captures Matamoros at its optimistic postwar peak — a city eager to welcome American tourists and trade across one of the busiest border crossings on the Gulf Coast corridor. The card is unused and pristine, a perfect artifact of mid-century border-crossing architecture and civic pride.
